Serendipitous matching by leveraging your Facebook
For over two years, location based service (LBS) has been the centre of attention for the entire app world. The newest trend now for start-ups is getting users to leverage their social networks like Facebook to help them match better and find love.
I understand why it still is very popular for start-ups like Ban.jo and Foursquare but with regards to online dating, I don’t understand. Isn’t it an easier way to stalk someone? I guess I see the world differently in my eyes and maybe I should assume that the world is actually a nicer place.
There’s the new app out there called Highlig.ht. It encourages you to connect your Facebook profile to their iOS app. Highlig.ht will automatically push your basic information to other people using the app. You’ll get to choose to make your information accessible to either everyone or friends of friends. The app makes the connection if the two parties have something in common.
Maybe I’m too old to get it or I’m too private. In my mind I think it’s just plain creepy.
Would you use Highlig.ht? Why or why not?
