Dating site that let’s you show your story
Dating Website Uses Pin Technology to Find Common Interests and Matches
Pinstant Karma introduces Visual Interest Matching to online dating
Online dating website Pinstant Karma uses online pin boards for singles to meet and connect with potential matches based on similar interests.
Building on the growing popularity of social discovery websites, Pinstant Karma doesn’t use gimmicks, essays, lengthy questionnaires or formulas – just a big, fun, visual pin board that allows people to discover the real you.
“Forget about pseudoscience, mathematical algorithms, or awkward quizzes. We think people simply want to meet others who share their interests,” says the website’s Founder Doug Reffue.
“Pinstant Karma is the first dating site that lets you show your story using a visually-representative dating profile – what we call Visual Interest Matching.”
With a simple one-click icon easily installed on their Bookmarks Bar, users can easily “pin” images to their personal pin boards as they search the web. They create self-curated, Pinterest-like “boards” filled with images of their favorite places, special memories, tasty foods and anything else that tells their unique story.
“We’re not going to feed you into an algorithm, because in our opinion, algorithms don’t lead to love. We just want to help you talk about interesting things with interesting people. The rest is up to you,” explains Doug Reffue.
“Don’t surrender your love life to software or wait for someone to fall in love with your awkwardly-written ‘About Me’ paragraph. Using Visual Interest Matching, Pinstant Karma allows you to start conversations with people who have posted interesting images about things that interest you.”
Online dating services have grown in popularity over the last 10 years. 40 million Americans use online dating services – that’s about 40% of the adult American single population. Nevertheless, there has been very little innovation in this space over the past two decades, with the majority of websites using the same features and userexperience.
Pinstant Karma is the first website to apply Visual Interest Matching, using the popular online pin board concept, to the social dating process.
The website is specifically created for Generation ‘D’, the 75 million Americans born after 1980. Generation D is now dating and looking for something new – and they don’t want to be on the same dating sites with their parents (or even grandparents).
Pinstant Karma’s Beta-version will be available free of charge to the public during May, June and July 2012.
Pinstant Karma is the second product to come out of Ten Ball Labs in Boston, MA and is set to officially launch in Fall 2012 as a paid subscription service.
